Mumbai, Feb 1: Chembur Karnataka Sangha organized an annual sports meet at Karnataka High School ground, Chembur, on Sunday January 29.
National Kabaddi player and Shivaji Chhatrapati Award recipient Jaya A Shetty was the chief guest who inaugurated the sports meet on Sunday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, Jaya Shetty said that Kabaddi is his first love that has given him fame and name, earned the Shivaji Chhatrapati Award, to prove that one can be settled in life through excellence in sports. “The annual sports meet will shape a better future for sports enthusiasts,” he added.
Chembur Karnataka Sangha president Prabhakar Shetty Tolar presided over the programme. He said that the annual sports meet is being organized due to health concerns and to inspire sports capabilities among the youth besides helping promote unity and friendliness.
Prabhakar felicitated Jaya Shetty by draping a shawl, presented a memento of Lord Ganapati created by a talented student with coffee powder, tray of fruits, and flowers.
Sports secretary and organizer Ranjan Kumar Amin, honorary chief secretary Vishwanath S Shenava, treasurer Devdas Shettigar, Sundar Kotian, and Ashok Salian compered the sports meet.
Daya Sagar Chowta welcomed the gathering. Vishwanat S Shenava proposed the vote of thanks.
