New Delhi, Jul 22: In view of the large influx of Kanwar Yatra devotees ahead of Shivratri, the Delhi Traffic Police on Tuesday announced a series of restrictions and diversions across the capital city. The measures are aimed at ensuring public safety and preventing traffic congestion, particularly around key religious spots.

From 9 am to midnight, movement of buses and commercial vehicles will be restricted on multiple roads across Delhi, especially near the Hanuman Mandir in the Yamuna Bazar area, where a heavy rush of pilgrims is expected.

Officials have warned of traffic congestion along prominent stretches including Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Yudhister Setu, and Boulevard Road. Vehicular movement on Yudhister Setu from Tis Hazari to Shahdara will remain prohibited for buses and commercial vehicles during the specified time.

To manage traffic flow, diversions will be enforced at critical points such as Gate No. 5 of the Kashmiri Gate Metro Station, Boulevard Road near Yudhister Setu, the exit gate of ISBT Kashmiri Gate, and GPO Chowk.

Commercial vehicles approaching from Hanuman Mandir via Ring Road towards Tis Hazari will be redirected through an extended route that includes Ring Road, Yamuna Marg, Raj Niwas Marg, Rajpur Road, and Dr. Karnwal Road, eventually reaching Baraf Khana Chowk.

Similarly, traffic coming from Tis Hazari and heading towards Yudhister Setu will be diverted from Kashmiri Gate Metro Station Gate No. 5 to Ring Road. Vehicles will then follow a rerouted path via Outer Ring Road, Akshardham Mandir, and NH-24.

The traffic police have urged commuters to avoid affected routes and cooperate with authorities during the yatra period to ensure smooth movement across the city.
