Udupi: Social Organizations Initiate Civic Awareness Campaign

Udupi, Feb 1: ZP president Katpady Shankar Poojary inaugurated the civic awareness campaign held at Janardhan auditorium, Kaup, on Tuesday January 31.  It was held in association with Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), Jana Jagruti Vedike, Kaup Pragatibandu Self-Help Groups Federation, Kaup and Uliyargoli gram panchayats, Laxmi Janardhan temple, Hosa Marigududi temple, Kaup Lions Club, Kaup JCI, and Kaup Rotary Club.

Speaking on the occasion, Poojary said that SKDRDP is leading in social welfare activities in the state.  The living standards of the coastal people have been uplifted especially in rural villages through the guiding force of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Dr Veerendra Heggade, with his far-sighted programmes for the empowerment of rural masses.

A rally was held from Dandateerta while the students of St Mary’s College, Shirva, staged a street play based on environmental awareness.

TP president Devdas Hebbar, Kaup Hosa Marigudi temple managing trustee Ratnakar Shetty Nadikere, taluk Jana Jagruti Vedike president Navin Amin Shankarapura, SKDRDP taluk director Keshav Gowda, Kaup temple managing trustee Jayaram Shetty, Kaup gram panchayat president Yogish Rai, Uliyargoli gram panchayat president Arun Shetty, Kaup Lions Club president Harish Nayak, Sadashiv Bhat, Jaycees president Shivanna Bayar, alcohol de-addiction committee president Jagdish Acharya, and Sarojini Shetty were present on the occasion.
