Kolkata Law College rape case: Forensic reports nail accused, confirm role in crime

Kolkata, Jul 26: In a major breakthrough in the Kolkata Law College rape case, two crucial forensic reports have confirmed the involvement of the three prime accused, strengthening the case against them, police sources revealed on Friday.

The first forensic report is based on the mobile phone analysis of Monojit Mishra, the main accused and alleged rapist. Officials said the data extracted not only provides evidence of the recent sexual assault, but also hints at similar past offences by Mishra.

Authorities, however, have chosen not to share further details at this stage.

The second report involves the analysis of blood samples collected from the guard room—the crime scene inside the law college. This report has reportedly established the presence of Mishra, along with Jaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukhopadhyay, who are believed to have facilitated the crime.

“The contents of the two forensic reports have enough material to make the case watertight against the accused,” a senior City Police official said.

Meanwhile, investigators have recorded statements from 60 witnesses and analyzed CCTV footage from the college campus. The footage reportedly shows the victim being dragged into the guard room by the accused.

In a further step, police conducted a gait pattern analysis of the accused this week. This scientific method compares an individual’s walking style with those captured in surveillance footage. The findings are expected to bolster the case further.

With growing public outrage and forensic evidence aligning with witness accounts, the case appears to be heading toward a swift and strong legal course.
