Phnom Penh, Jul 26: Amid intensifying border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia, the Indian Embassy in Cambodia has issued a travel advisory urging Indian nationals to avoid travelling to the border areas. The embassy also provided emergency contact details for assistance.
In a statement posted on X, the embassy said: “In view of the ongoing clashes at the Cambodia-Thailand border, Indian nationals are advised to avoid travelling to the border areas. In case of any emergency, Indian nationals may approach the Embassy of India, Phnom Penh at +855 92881676 or email cons.phnompenh@mea.gov.in.”
The advisory comes as hostilities continued for a third consecutive day, with at least 13 reported deaths and over 70 injuries in Cambodia alone. Cambodian defence officials said that five soldiers were killed and 21 wounded, while eight civilians died and 50 were injured in Oddar Meanchey province.

The violence reportedly began after Cambodian troops allegedly opened fire on Thai soldiers, prompting retaliatory strikes. The Thai Navy, in response, launched “Trat Strike 1”, deploying a task force of four vessels to support ground troops and secure border zones in Trat province.
Tensions escalated further on Saturday as the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence accused Thailand of expanding its offensive into Pursat province.
The Indian Embassy in Thailand had earlier also issued an advisory, asking Indian travellers to remain vigilant and track developments through verified sources, such as the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) newsroom.
“As per the Tourism Authority of Thailand, places mentioned in the following link are not recommended for travelling,” the Indian Embassy in Thailand stated on X.
With the situation remaining volatile, both embassies have cautioned Indian nationals to stay clear of conflict-affected zones and follow all local government advisories.
