New Delhi, Jul 26: Marking the 26th anniversary of India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War, BJP National President J.P. Nadda addressed the ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas Samaroh’ at the party headquarters on Saturday, underscoring the Modi government's uncompromising stance on national security and terror retaliation.
Speaking before a gathering that included senior BJP leaders and veterans of the Kargil conflict, Nadda paid heartfelt tributes to the soldiers who laid down their lives defending the nation. “We salute our immortal martyrs from the bottom of our hearts,” he said.
Recalling the events of 1999, Nadda lauded the Indian Armed Forces for reclaiming strategic heights infiltrated by Pakistani forces. He credited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s leadership during the conflict and said, “Our forces were told to take back every inch of our land — and they did.”

Nadda drew a sharp distinction between past and present approaches to national defence, declaring that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has embraced a proactive and robust doctrine. “If a bullet is fired, a barrage will be returned. This is India’s new normal,” he said, referencing the post-Uri and Pulwama strikes as examples of India’s readiness to hit back hard.
He also cited the recent ‘Operation Sindoor’ following the Pahalgam terror attack as a testament to the government’s policy of direct response to cross-border aggression.
Highlighting India’s strides in defence self-reliance, Nadda pointed out that the country now produces and exports bulletproof jackets, and is prepared to respond on land, sea, and air if provoked.
“This is the India of Modi — bold, self-reliant, and unforgiving to those who dare to provoke it,” Nadda declared, reinforcing the BJP’s narrative of strong national security under the current leadership.
