Mangaluru, July 28: The Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) organised the 23rd edition of its Konkani dance competition at Don Bosco Hall on Sunday, July 27.
The event began with the KNS anthem, followed by a welcome address from Dr Rocky D'Cunha, OFM Cap, president of KNS, who encouraged the participants and wished them success.
Santhosh Sequeira Kankanady, a long-time supporter of KNS, was the chief guest. The competition was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony by KNS general secretary Pamela Santos, assistant secretary Jerome Moras, treasurer Ivan D'Silva, judges, and conveners Shanthi Dias and Usha Kiran Lobo.
Judges for the event were Marula Nisha Gibson, Rahul Pinto, and Delitia Asumptha Pereira. KNS vice president Floyd D'Mello Cascia presented mementos to the panel.
A total of 76 dancers took part in 48 entries across five categories. Participants competed in solo, duet, and married couple segments under age groups: below 10 years, 10–15 years, 15–40 years, and above 40 years.
The event was supported by KNS manager Gerald Concessao, with score tabulation by Ivan D'Silva. Keith Furtado from the Urwa Unit provided technical assistance. Coordination was handled by the Milagres, Jeppu, and Gurpur units, along with the KNS managing committee.
Clita Noronha compered the programme, assisted by Nigel Pereira and Jacintha Lobo. Usha Kiran Lobo introduced the judges, Shanthi Dias proposed the vote of thanks, and Pamela Santos announced the results.
