Idukki, Sep 23: A 47-year-old tribal man was killed in an elephant attack near Panniyar in Kerala’s Idukki district in the early hours of Wednesday, forest officials said.
The victim, identified as Vijayan, was returning home when he came face-to-face with a wild elephant, the officials said.
According to local residents, Vijayan tried to flee after encountering the tusker, but the elephant chased him and attacked him, resulting in his death.
Forest officials are investigating the incident.
