Washington, Jul 30: US President Donald Trump has issued a rallying call for more Americans to join the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), praising the agency’s officers as “brave” and promising full support as his campaign moves to dramatically expand immigration enforcement.
Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump lauded ICE agents for removing what he described as “the WORST of the WORST” criminals from American soil — including terrorists, gang members, and traffickers. “They’re getting these SLEAZEBAGS, the SCUM of the Earth that Crooked Joe Biden let in, OUT OF HERE, and getting them out, FAST,” he wrote on Tuesday.
Encouraging more citizens to enlist in the agency, Trump said, “We need MORE courageous men and women to MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN. Join ICE now. We will take GREAT care of you, just like you take care of us!”
The post comes amid plans by Trump’s team to boost ICE’s capabilities with a proposed record allocation of $75 billion as part of a sweeping legislative agenda. The funds are expected to enhance detention capacity and support a nationwide ramp-up in deportation efforts, including hiring additional agents.
Homeland Security officials have acknowledged both growing praise and pressure on ICE. “Despite increased recognition from Republican leaders, ICE keeps getting kicked in the teeth,” a DHS official told CNN.
While Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem continue to champion the agency’s role, sources within ICE report rising internal tension. Officers are said to be working non-stop under daily scrutiny from the White House, even as protests and public backlash over recent mass deportation orders escalate.
The agency remains at the center of a heated political debate, with critics accusing ICE of overreach, while Trump and his allies argue the agency is vital to national security and deserves more resources — and respect.
