Leicester, Jul 30: Riding on a blistering half-century by Stuart Binny and a collective all-round effort, the India Champions crushed West Indies Champions by five wickets in just 13.2 overs to seal their place in the semi-finals of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, here on Tuesday.

Needing to chase 145 runs within 14.1 overs to qualify for the knockouts, the Yuvraj Singh-led side produced a dominating performance, crossing the finish line in style with Binny remaining unbeaten on 50 off just 21 balls.

Earlier, the West Indies Champions posted 144 for 9 in their 20 overs, thanks to a gritty unbeaten 74 from skipper Kieron Pollard and a handy 20 by Dwayne Smith. However, Indian spinner Piyush Chawla tightened the screws with an impressive spell, picking up 3 for 18.

India's response was aggressive right from the outset. Shikhar Dhawan (25), Yusuf Pathan (21), and Yuvraj Singh (21) chipped in with quickfire contributions before Binny’s fireworks sealed the match.

Speaking after the victory, captain Yuvraj Singh said, "We’re thrilled to have qualified for the semifinals. The target was challenging, but the boys delivered under pressure. Now, all focus shifts to winning the tournament."

The India Champions have now emerged as one of the favourites in the tournament, combining power-hitting with disciplined bowling to dominate their group matches.

Brief Scores:

West Indies Champions – 144/9 in 20 overs (Kieron Pollard 74*, Dwayne Smith 20; Piyush Chawla 3/18)

India Champions – 148/5 in 13.2 overs (Stuart Binny 50*, Shikhar Dhawan 25; Dwayne Smith 2/27)

With momentum on their side, the India Champions will look to carry their winning form into the semi-finals as they aim to lift the WCL 2025 trophy.
