Munich, Jul 30: Colombian winger Luis Diaz has completed his transfer to FC Bayern Munich, ending a memorable three-and-a-half-year stint at Liverpool FC with an emotional tribute to fans and a heartfelt farewell to fallen teammate Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, both tragically killed in a recent accident.

In a moving Instagram post, Diaz described his time at Liverpool as a “dream fulfilled,” reflecting on the club’s success, camaraderie, and the tragic loss that has cast a shadow over what could have been a perfect goodbye.

“It would have been the perfect farewell if we hadn’t lost one of ours in such a tragic way… I carry everyone with me in my heart, but one of them in particular: Diogo. I will never forget him. We will never forget him,” wrote Diaz.

Diaz, 27, signed a four-year deal with the German champions, leaving Anfield after 148 appearances, 41 goals, and a cabinet of six trophies, including the Premier League title, FA Cup, Community Shield, and two League Cups.

He was signed by Liverpool in January 2022 and quickly became a fan favorite with his pace, flair, and work ethic. Internationally, he remains a vital figure for Colombia, with 19 goals in 64 caps, and a joint top scorer title at the 2020/21 Copa America.

Diaz’s departure comes amid collective mourning at Liverpool following the fatal accident that claimed the lives of Portuguese star Diogo Jota and his brother. Their deaths have shaken the global football community, with tributes pouring in from across the sport.

“Liverpool is, indeed, a special team... There were ups and downs, but always truth. As it should be in a family,” Diaz added. “It’s good to be leaving with the feeling of duty fulfilled — and, most of all, to be leaving a champion.”

As Diaz begins a new chapter in Germany, his farewell marks the end of an era at Liverpool — one filled with passion, triumph, and now, poignant loss.
