Karkala: Tanker Overturns, Driver Loses Life

Karkala, Feb 2: After a tanker overturned at Mudaru village in the taluk on the night of Tuesday January 31, its driver lost his life on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh (45), from Bangalore.

Ramesh, a native of Madikeri, used to live in K R Puram, Bangalore with wife and six children since some time, it is gathered.

Ramesh also happened to be the owner of the tanker in question. B V Ravi (27) from Somwarpet, and Sunil Singh (26) from Uttar Pradesh, who used to serve as labourers, suffered injuries in the accident. The injured were admitted into the government hospital here.

It is gathered the tanker was carrying a load of bitumen from Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. It is said that the driver suddenly lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a road bend at Mudaru village near Kadari.

A case in this connection was registered in the local police station.
