Goa ST leaders applaud CM Sawant, BJP state chief for bill passage in Lok Sabha

Margao, Aug 6: In a show of unity and gratitude, a delegation of Scheduled Tribe (ST) leaders from Goa called on Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and BJP State President Damu Naik to congratulate them on the successful passage of the Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2024 in the Lok Sabha.

The delegation was led by Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Ramesh Tawadkar, who hailed the move as a significant milestone in ensuring political justice and adequate representation for the tribal community in the state’s legislative framework.

Among those who accompanied Tawadkar were Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar, North Goa Zilla Panchayat Chairman Dhaku Madkaikar, BJP South Goa District President Prabhakar Gaonkar, and Tiatr Academy of Goa President Anthony Barbosa.

The leaders lauded the consistent efforts of the state government and the BJP leadership in pushing for the long-pending demand of the tribal community. They expressed confidence that the implementation of the Bill would pave the way for greater inclusion and equitable representation in the democratic process.
