Trump lashes out at late-night hosts, calls Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon ‘No Talent’

Washington, Aug 7: In a fresh round of criticism targeting American television personalities, US President Donald Trump on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on late-night show hosts Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon, claiming they have “no talent” and predicting their impending ouster from television.

During a news conference, Trump was responding to a question about radio host Howard Stern possibly leaving Sirius XM after his contract expires this autumn. When asked whether the “hate Trump” strategy in entertainment had run its course, Trump diverted attention to the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert by CBS.

“Colbert has no talent,” said Trump. “I could take anybody from the street, they’d do just as well. Maybe better. He had terrible ratings.” He further added that Fallon and Kimmel were “next” in line to be removed, alleging, “They’re going to be going. I hear they’re going to be going.”

Trump repeated these remarks on Truth Social, writing, “Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone.” He blamed them for “destroying what used to be GREAT Television,” and hoped he had contributed to their decline.

CBS’s parent company, Paramount, however, clarified that Colbert’s cancellation was based on financial decisions and not politics, even as liberal commentators speculated otherwise.

Speaking about Howard Stern, Trump recalled appearing on his show during earlier years. “He lost his audience after endorsing Hillary Clinton,” said Trump, adding that Stern’s popularity waned following the 2016 elections.

Trump’s comments have once again stirred debates on political influence in entertainment and media, just as the US heads into another heated election season.
