Gaza doctor alleges ‘Daily Patterns’ in Israeli maiming at aid sites

Amman, Aug 13: An American paediatrician who recently returned from the Gaza Strip has alleged that injuries sustained by Palestinian aid seekers at Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) distribution points followed “deliberate, daily patterns” of maiming by Israeli forces.

Dr Ahmed Yousaf, who spent over two weeks volunteering at Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir el-Balah and al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, told Al Jazeera that he treated “mass casualty incidents” from Israeli shootings at GHF food distribution sites almost every day.

He claimed that injuries appeared highly specific, with each day showing a concentration of wounds to the same body area. “On a Monday, we’d see 40 to 60 patients shot in the legs or groin. The next day, injuries would be to the upper body or chest, and on other days, only head and neck bullet wounds. It felt as though the shooter decided each day how they would maim or kill,” Yousaf said, adding that the targeting was “age indiscriminate.”

Yousaf’s remarks add to similar accusations from medical staff in Gaza, who allege targeted and indiscriminate violence at aid distribution sites run by the US-backed organisation.
