New Delhi, Aug 15: Dr Bimal Chhajer, a cardiologist specialising in non-invasive treatment, has urged people to pay close attention to certain warning signs of heart disease that often go unnoticed. Writing in a blog on his website Saaol.com, he said these symptoms should be discussed with a healthcare professional if experienced.
Among the most common indicators is chest discomfort, which may feel like pain, tightness, heaviness, burning, or compression, sometimes radiating to the left arm. He cautioned that heart attacks can occur without chest pain, especially in women.

Other signs include sudden dizziness or loss of balance accompanied by chest pain or breathlessness, throat or jaw pain linked to chest pressure, and unexplained fatigue or weakness after routine activities.
Dr Chhajer also warned against ignoring loud snoring with gasping or choking — a possible sign of sleep apnea, which strains the heart — and persistent cough producing white or pink mucus, which may indicate heart failure.
Swelling in the legs, ankles, or abdomen can also be a sign of poor heart function, while frequent or unexplained rapid heartbeats should prompt medical evaluation.
He emphasised that while some symptoms may have harmless causes, recognising and addressing them early can be life-saving, particularly for those with existing heart risks.
