Mathura, Aug 16: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced a Rs 30,000 crore master plan to transform the Brij region — encompassing Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, and Gokul — into a vibrant spiritual and cultural hub reminiscent of the Dwapar era.
Speaking at a saints' felicitation ceremony at the Panchjanya Auditorium on the occasion of Janmashtami, CM Yogi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 118 development projects worth ?646 crore for Mathura-Vrindavan. These include upgrades such as beautification of parikrama paths, restoration of sacred water bodies (kunds), improved connectivity, new entrance gates, water conservation, and eco-friendly initiatives.

“This plan will merge spirituality with modern infrastructure,” Yogi said, drawing parallels with the successful development of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and the Vindhyavasini Corridor. He added that projects like the Barsana ropeway were already easing pilgrimages, especially for the elderly.
Highlighting efforts to revive the Yamuna similar to the Ganga rejuvenation under PM Narendra Modi, the CM said, “Uninterrupted flow and purity of the Yamuna is our mission.”
Quoting Lord Krishna, Yogi invoked the spirit of righteousness and selfless action, adding, “As long as Krishna’s ideals live in us, no evil can defeat us.”
The Chief Minister also aligned the Brij plan with PM Modi’s India@2047 vision, stating that Uttar Pradesh will be at the forefront of India’s journey to becoming a global power by its centenary of independence.
In a heartfelt moment, Yogi blessed six children dressed as Krishna and Radha, performed their Annaprashan sanskar, fed them kheer, gifted pearl garlands and toys — earning applause from the gathering.
He also honoured revered saints, including Shri Phooldol Bihari Lal Ji, Harishankar Naga Ji, and Balram Baba Ji, offering traditional tokens of respect.
A documentary on Govardhan Parikrama, directed by Shruti Anandita Verma, was also launched during the event, and Verma was felicitated by the Chief Minister for her work.
