Kannada Sangha Bahrain celebrates India’s 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour

Bahrain, Aug 20: Kannada Sangha Bahrain celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day with grandeur on Friday, August 15, at the Kannada Bhavan complex in Manama, Bahrain.

The celebration began with president Ajith Bangera hoisting the Indian national tricolour, followed by vice-president Nithin Shetty hoisting the Bahrain national flag. A large gathering of members paid homage to the flags and expressed their patriotism by singing the national anthem.

Prominent guests including Jayashankar, Mohammed Mansoor, CA Ajay, former president Amarnath Rai, and former president Pradeep Kumar Shetty graced the occasion and shared their thoughts on Independence Day. President Ajith Bangera also delivered the Independence Day message.

As part of the cultural segment, a fancy dress competition and dance performances by members, women, and children were staged at the Kannada Bhavan auditorium, adding colour and vibrancy to the event.

Category A (1–4 years)
First: Jaishni Jayaraj
Second: Sayansh Rupesh
Third: Megan Mathew

Category B (4–8 years)
First: Riddhi Nithesh Shetty
Second: Shaurya Praveen Shetty
Third: Ayaan Satish Shetty

Category C (8–15 years)
First: Prakruthi Gopal Shetty
Second: Shreya Harish Gowda
Third: Kshithi Sunil

The competition was judged by Saurav Rakesh and Felcy Philomena Fernandes. Guests distributed prizes to the winners and congratulated them.

The programme was successfully organised under the coordination of cultural secretary Harini Shetty, deputy cultural secretary Harish Gowda, and acting secretary Harinath Suvarna.
