Cupertino, Aug 22: With Apple gearing up to unveil the iPhone 17 series in September, fresh leaks have hinted at major design and hardware changes in the upcoming flagship models.
According to reports, Apple is expected to shift from titanium to aluminium for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, giving the devices a sleeker design with a uniform aluminium chassis covering both the frame and rear panel. Tech blogger Vadim Yuryev of MaxTech claimed on X that the camera housing and surrounding frame would also adopt the new metal finish, replacing the existing glass elements.
The Cupertino giant is also expected to expand its eSIM-only model to more global regions, though physical SIM slots will continue in select markets where eSIM services are still limited, particularly for pay-as-you-go connections. Apple had first removed the SIM slot in the US with the iPhone 14 series in 2022.
Leaked images circulating on the Korean platform Naver under the account "yeux1122" further suggest a re-engineered battery design. The battery, shown encased in a metal covering instead of foil, is said to improve heat dissipation and durability. Currently, only the iPhone 16 Pro uses a similar battery casing, but Apple is expected to extend the feature to more models in 2025.
The upcoming iPhone 17 lineup has already triggered excitement among Apple loyalists, with rumours pointing to significant internal upgrades, sleeker form factor and advanced thermal management. All eyes are now set on Apple’s September launch event, where the much-awaited iPhone 17 series will be officially unveiled.
