Gaza, Aug 23: At least 12 Palestinians, including six children, were killed in an Israeli shelling in the Asdaa area of southern Gaza, a medical source at Nasser Hospital told Al Jazeera. The shelling struck tents of displaced Palestinians seeking shelter northwest of Khan Younis.

Earlier reports confirmed a predawn Israeli strike in Khan Younis that killed at least four children. The ongoing conflict has intensified civilian casualties in the region.
