Bantwal, Aug 24: Food department officials, with the assistance of Bantwal city police, raided a private building near Pattekodi in Golthamajalu village on Saturday and registered a case against two persons for illegally stocking rice meant for the government’s Anna Bhagya scheme.

The accused have been identified as godown manager Ummarabba alias Puttumonu (47) and worker Rafeeq (42), both residents of Kalladka.

During the raid, officials seized around 25 quintals of Anna Bhagya rice. This included 21.4 quintals of boiled rice and 4.67 quintals of broken rice stored illegally. Authorities also confiscated weighing equipment used for the racket and an autorickshaw brought to transport the rice.
