Panaji, Aug 24: A 50-year-old man, Ramdas Laxman Velip, was seriously injured after being attacked by a bear while working on his plantation in Kajur-Quepem on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m., when Velip had gone alone to tend to his plantation located some distance from his home. While working, he was suddenly confronted and mauled by a wild bear. Despite sustaining severe injuries, Velip managed to break free and escape from the scene.
He was initially taken to the Quepem Primary Health Centre by a 108 ambulance and later referred to Goa Medical College (GMC) Hospital for advanced medical care.

Following the attack, a team from Quepem Police visited the spot and conducted a panchanama. Locals reported that Kajur is a heavily forested area where wildlife sightings, including bears, have become increasingly common.
