Minneapolis, Aug 27: A horrific shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning left three people dead, including the suspected shooter, and 20 others injured, US Justice Department officials confirmed.
The incident occurred during morning Mass at the private elementary school, shocking parents and students just two days after the academic year began.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz termed the incident “horrific” and said he was praying for the children and teachers whose first week of school was shattered by violence. “I have been briefed on the shooting and my thoughts are with the victims,” Walz posted on X.
Local media reported that students were quickly evacuated as police, FBI, and federal agents rushed to the scene. Emergency vehicles surrounded the school, which is connected to Annunciation Catholic Church in a residential area of southeast Minneapolis.
President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that he had been briefed on the “tragic shooting” and assured that the White House was monitoring the situation closely.
Founded in 1923, Annunciation School has nearly 400 students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. The school had scheduled its first all-school Mass at 8:15 am, which coincided with the attack.
The incident came less than 24 hours after a series of shootings in Minneapolis, including one near a high school that left one dead and six injured, adding to growing concerns about gun violence in the city.
