Noida, Aug 29: In a heart-touching display of swift action and dedication, Noida Traffic Police on Thursday created a six-km-long green corridor from the DND flyover to Child PGI Hospital, Sector 30, enabling an ambulance carrying two critically ill newborn twins to reach its destination in just three minutes and 52 seconds.

The twins, a baby boy and a girl, were born prematurely at just 26 weeks, each weighing around 700 grams. For the past 47 days, the infants have been fighting for survival with severe respiratory and digestive complications, doctors at Child PGI confirmed.

Initially admitted to a private hospital in Delhi’s Najafgarh, the babies were later referred to Child PGI, Noida, for advanced neonatal care. “Both babies are extremely sick and currently on ventilators with high settings,” said Dr Ruchi Rai, head of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Lakhan Singh Yadav informed that nearly 30 traffic police personnel were deployed along the route to ensure an uninterrupted passage for the ambulance. “It was a six-km corridor from DND to Child PGI in Noida. The ambulance covered the stretch in three minutes and 52 seconds,” he said.

The prompt response and coordination by the traffic police has been hailed as a lifesaving effort, offering a ray of hope to the anxious family battling to save their newborns.
