Hyderabad to host global meet on liver health & transplants

Daijiworld Media Network – Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Aug 29: Hyderabad is set to host a two-day international conference on August 30 and 31, focusing on the liver, an organ that silently performs over 500 vital functions yet often remains neglected in healthcare priorities.

Medical experts warn that liver-related illnesses are witnessing a sharp surge in India, with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) emerging as a silent epidemic, particularly among young adults. If untreated, NAFLD can progress to NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis), causing inflammation and irreversible damage.

India’s leadership in living donor liver transplants will be a highlight of the conference, with pioneering doctors presenting success stories and new protocols that are redefining transplant medicine. Surgeons, hepatologists and transplant specialists will share the latest trends, advanced techniques and innovations designed to manage the most complex transplant cases.

Experts will also address multidisciplinary approaches to improve outcomes for patients with co-existing conditions such as kidney dysfunction, heart disease and chronic infections. Sessions will include discussions on intricate tumor resections, blood group mismatches and new methods in donor-recipient matching.

Organisers said the insights from the conference will not only benefit specialists in major hospitals but also equip general practitioners in smaller towns to identify early warning signs, enabling timely referrals before conditions become critical.
