Morgan, Sep 2: A tragic midair collision between two small aircraft left one person dead and three others injured Sunday morning at Fort Morgan Municipal Airport in northeastern Colorado.
The cessna 172 and extra Flugzeugbau EA300, each carrying two people, collided while attempting to land, authorities said. Both planes crashed and caught fire, according to the Morgan county sheriff’s office.
Of the occupants, the two on the cessna sustained minor injuries, while one person on the EA300 was hospitalized. The other was pronounced dead at the scene.
The federal aviation administration (FAA) confirmed the collision, and the national transportation safety board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the incident.
Fort Morgan, a city of roughly 12,000 people, is located about 80 miles northeast of Denver.
