Censor delays hamper overseas release of 'The Bengal Files'

Mumbai, Sep 3: Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri's new film, 'The Bengal Files', is facing delays in its international release due to pending censorship approvals in several key territories. While the film is set to premiere in India on its scheduled date of September 5, its release in countries like Mauritius, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong has been put on hold.

According to the production team, the film has not yet received clearance from the censor board in Mauritius, and its release there is indefinitely postponed. In the UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, the film is still under review. These regions have stringent content approval processes, especially for films that address politically or socially sensitive topics.

'The Bengal Files' is the third installment of Agnihotri's 'Files' trilogy, which includes the critically acclaimed 'The Tashkent Files' and 'The Kashmir Files'. The film, written by Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi, stars Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Darshan Kumar.

The production of the film was marked by a personal tragedy for the team. Actress-producer Pallavi Joshi, who is also Agnihotri's wife, revealed that the film's production designer, Rajat Poddar, passed away from a cardiac arrest during the pre-production stage, which was a significant blow to the project.
