Dubai RTA announces special service timings for Prophet Muhammad’s birthday on Sept 5

Dubai, Sep 4: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has released revised service schedules for September 5, in observance of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, also known as Mawlid al-Nabi. Public parking, transport, and customer service operations will follow special holiday arrangements, with certain exemptions and extended hours in place.

All public parking zones across Dubai will be free of charge on Friday. Exceptions include: multi-level parking facilities, Al Khail gate parking (Zone N.365). Normal paid parking will resume citywide from Saturday, September 6.

RTA Customer Happiness Centres will remain closed on Friday, September 6. However, five Smart Customer Happiness Centres will operate 24/7: Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Tawar, RTA Head Office.

These smart facilities provide self-service options for residents and visitors.

Dubai metro: Red and green lines will operate extended hours from 5:00 am on Friday until 1:00 am on Saturday.

Dubai Tram, Buses, Marine Transport, Vehicle Testing Centres: Specific timings were not detailed; residents are advised to check official RTA channels for updates.

Significance of the Day the 12th of Rabi Al Awwal marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), a date revered in the Islamic calendar. Muslims worldwide observe Mawlid al-Nabi with prayers, sermons, and gatherings reflecting the Prophet’s teachings of compassion, justice, humility, and unity. The day is also associated with charity, acts of kindness, and community service.
