Chennai, Sep 8: Veteran actor Rajkiran has been confirmed to play the role of Sivanesan in ‘Idly Kadai’, the much-anticipated action entertainer directed by Dhanush. The announcement was made on Monday by Wunderbar Films, Dhanush’s own production house, which is jointly backing the project with Dawn Pictures.

Taking to social media, Wunderbar Films wrote, “The thespian #Rajkiran plays SIVANESAN in #IdliKadai. Get ready for the film in theatres on the 1st of October.” Dhanush, too, shared his excitement, tweeting, “My first Hero Rajkiran sir as Sivanesan. #IdliKadai”, referring to his emotional connection with the veteran actor.

The makers have previously revealed the characters of Sathyaraj as Vishnu Vardhan and Arun Vijay as Ashwin. Arun Vijay is said to play the antagonist, setting the stage for a high-voltage clash with Dhanush, who also plays the lead. Actress Shalini Pandey has now been confirmed to have a key role, alongside Nithya Menen, who plays the female lead.

The film's final schedule wrapped up in Bangkok, where a major sequence was shot featuring the full cast. Following this, the producers announced the completion of filming and reaffirmed the new release date — October 1 — after postponing the original April 10 launch.

Idly Kadai features cinematography by Kiran Koushik and music by G.V. Prakash, promising a potent mix of visuals and sound to complement Dhanush’s direction and on-screen performance.

With seasoned performers, intense action, and a compelling storyline, Idly Kadai is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Tamil releases of the year.
