New Delhi, Sep 10: A day after his wife and Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan approached the Delhi High Court against unauthorised use of her AI-manipulated images, actor Abhishek Bachchan has also moved the court seeking protection of his personality rights.

According to reports, the actor filed a plea against a website named Bollywood Tee Shop, which has been selling T-shirts carrying images of Bollywood celebrities without permission.

In his petition, Abhishek contended that his persona—including his image and identity—is being exploited without authorisation, which could potentially mislead people through fake online identities of public figures.

The actor sought injunctions to block the website and remove related online links from platforms such as Google and YouTube. He further requested that the order be extended to “John Doe” defendants, targeting unidentified parties that may indulge in similar misuse in future.

Legal experts noted that this plea aligns with a series of such cases filed by Bollywood stars in recent times. Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff had secured legal orders safeguarding their personality rights, while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s plea was heard in the same court just a day earlier.

Ameet Nayak, partner at advocate Pravin Anand’s law firm, stated: “The law on personality rights has evolved over time thanks to judicial recognition. Orders in such matters are the need of the hour to prevent misuse of celebrity attributes, especially with the rise of AI and digital tools.”

Justice Tejas Karia of the Delhi High Court has scheduled Abhishek’s plea for further hearing on January 15, 2026.
