Abu Dhabi, Sep 10: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA), has closed 11 unlicensed domestic worker recruitment offices in Al Ain. The offices were found operating without proper licensing or under licenses issued outside Abu Dhabi, violating the Domestic Workers Law.

MoHRE stressed a zero-tolerance approach, warning repeat offenders of stricter penalties, including license cancellation. Legal, administrative, and financial penalties have already been imposed, with cases referred to the Public Prosecution.

Earlier this year, 40 recruitment offices across the UAE faced penalties for nearly 140 violations, including failure to refund recruitment fees and non-compliance with displaying approved service packages.

The ministry urged families to use only licensed agencies to ensure verified, trained, and qualified domestic workers and warned against hiring through social media platforms, citing risks such as lack of legal protection, absence of worker screening, and potential liability.

Currently, 128 licensed recruitment centers operate across the UAE, including 41 each in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and smaller numbers in Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. Employers are advised to consult MoHRE’s official list and report suspicious activities via the helpline 600590000.
