Israel, Sep 12: Global criticism has mounted after an Israeli airstrike in Qatar killed five senior Hamas leaders and one security guard on Tuesday. The strike followed a deadly terrorist attack in Jerusalem a day earlier, in which six people were killed and more than 20 injured. Hamas later claimed responsibility for the assault.
Tom Doyle of Uncharted Ministries said the strike underscores Israel’s firm stance. “This has shown the world that Israel is not messing around. They want to get Hamas out of Gaza. But then, on the other hand, you look at Israeli hostages still trapped. What’s going to happen to them? Will there be retaliation?” he asked.
Amid the chaos, some residents of Gaza expressed muted relief. Doyle shared, “As the strikes happened, we were getting texts from former Muslims in Gaza who were thrilled. They said the people who made their lives miserable in Gaza — Hamas — are slowly going. So many leaders are gone now.”
He further noted that both in Gaza and Israel, the crisis is drawing people towards faith. “In the midst of the war, there are Muslim background believers with joy on their face. They’ve endured days of scarcity, struggling for food without being shot at or robbed, yet they radiate peace and hope,” Doyle said.
In Israel, Doyle highlighted an extraordinary story of transformation. A 98-year-old Holocaust survivor, who had long resisted Christianity believing Nazis were Christians, accepted Jesus after 20 years of prayers by a believer. “He started sharing with his Jewish friends, saying, ‘I don’t have a lot of time left, so please listen to what I say,’” Doyle recalled.
Calling for prayers, Doyle stressed that true peace lies beyond political negotiations. “Lasting peace won’t happen through governments, the UN, or any one country. Only Jesus can bring peace in people’s hearts, so that hatred and war don’t continue endlessly. What we’re praying for is a great awakening in the Middle East, where millions turn to Jesus as Savior,” he said.
