Mumbai, Sep 13: Filmmaker Farah Khan has disclosed that the romantic track Gerua from the 2015 Shah Rukh Khan–Kajol starrer Dilwale cost an eye-popping Rs 7 cr to film in Iceland, making it one of Bollywood’s priciest song shoots.
In her latest vlog from Delhi, Farah recounted the experience while visiting entrepreneur Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri, who had recently vacationed in Iceland. When Madhuri mentioned wanting a Hindi song for their travel pictures, Farah immediately recalled Gerua, the only major Bollywood song filmed there.

Farah described the shoot’s challenges in the freezing climate, where even simple movements were difficult for the actors. “Iceland is the most expensive place,” she said, adding that the budget “was a staggering Rs 7 cr just for that single song,” owing to high location costs and the compact crew required.
Despite Dilwale’s mixed reviews, Gerua became a standout hit for its breathtaking visuals and the magical on-screen chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, cementing its place as an unforgettable Bollywood moment.
