Fox host apologizes for ‘Callous’ remark on homeless mentally ill

New York, Sep 15: Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade issued an on-air apology Sunday after sparking outrage with a comment suggesting lethal injections for homeless people with mental illness.

The controversy arose during a Wednesday discussion on the murder of a Ukrainian woman in North Carolina. After co-host Lawrence Jones said mentally ill homeless individuals should enter treatment programs or face jail, Kilmeade added, “Or, involuntary lethal injection – or something. Just kill them.”

A 34-year-old man with a long criminal record has been charged with the murder. His mother revealed he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and had been involuntarily committed in the past.

“I apologize for that extremely callous remark,” Kilmeade said later. “I am obviously aware that not all mentally ill, homeless people act as the perpetrator did in North Carolina, and that so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion.”

Fox News, which airs the popular morning show, has not yet commented on the incident.
