Nagpur, Sep 17: Police in Nagpur have arrested a man and his wife for allegedly murdering his younger brother and attempting to mislead investigators by projecting it as a case of accidental death.

The 40-year-old victim was discovered dead in the bathroom of his residence at Eros Society, Shiv Nagar, on September 2. Initially, the family maintained that he had slipped, sustained a head injury, and succumbed to it.

However, the postmortem report revealed that the injuries were inflicted due to a violent assault, raising suspicion. Investigations also pointed towards ongoing family discord arising out of the deceased’s drinking habit.

Following the findings, Mankapur police on Tuesday arrested the victim’s elder brother and sister-in-law.

Further investigation into the case is in progress, officials said.
