Bangalore, Feb 9: After Justice Bannurmath requested the government to withdraw his name from the recommendation it had made for the post of state Lokayukta, sources said that some senior judges of the High Court have suggested names of retired judges for this vacant post, like retired judges of the High Court, V S Malimutt and Kuranga, retired High Court Chief Justice, N K Sodhi, and retired Supreme Court Chief Justice, Rajendra Babu, and retired Supreme Court judges, Justice A K Ganguly and Justice R V Ravindran, in addition to retired Supreme Court judges, Justice Ravindran, Justice B N Srikrishna.

It is felt that Justice Srikrishna may get the nod ahead of others because of the fact that he is a Bangalorean and is well-versed with Kannada, he has delivered several landmark judgments, and a commission headed by him had been formed to look into Telangana issue. Moreover, he is based in Mumbai, and there is no chance of his name creating controversy about having an illegal site in judicial officials lay out here.

Even though Justice N K Sodhi is not from Karnataka, his style of functioning here had drawn all-round appreciation.

In all likelihood, one of the above may get recommended by the government, although sources believe that likelihood of either Justice B N Srikrishna or Justice N K Sodhi getting the nod is high.
