Udupi, Feb 9: District crime intelligence bureau inspector, Ganesh M Hegde (45) suffered serious injuries in an accident which occurred at Karki in Honnavar, Uttara Kannada district on Wednesday February 8 afternoon. Reportedly, the Maruti Swift car belonging to his friend, being driven by Hegde, hit a roadside tree after he lost control over the vehicle.
The inspector was to attend hearing of a court case in Karwar relating to theft, on Thursday. Hegde, who suffered injuries to both his legs and face, was provided first aid at the local hospital before shifting to Manipal Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment now.
It is learnt that the case he was set to attend, relates to a theft case he had solved during the period he was working as sub-inspector at Bhatkal in 2006.
