Kundapur: Prasar Bharati to Organize ‘Akashwani Habba’ from Feb 12

Kundapur, Feb 10: Mangalore ‘Akashwani’ station will be organizing ‘Akashwani Habba’, an innovative programme to create general awareness on national cultural hierarchy and attract youth to Indian culture, from Sunday February 12 to Saturday February 18.
The three-hour cultural extravaganza will be held in the evenings in the undivided Dakshina kannada district – Kundapur, Udupi, Mangalore, Ujire, Puttur, Sullia, and at Kumble in Kasargod district.

Akashwani Habba will be inaugurated here on Sunday and conclude at Kumble on Saturday evening. Prasara Bharati former chairman and veteran journalist M V Kamath will inaugurate the week-long cultural extravaganza.

A seminar on role of Akashwani in societal progress will be attended by A S N Hebbar, Professor G Parvati Aithal, Dr Mahabaleshwar Rao, and U S Shenoy.

A youth poets’ session will be held later, followed by ‘Sri Krishnashwamedha’, Yakshagana play staged by the artistes of Durgaparameshwari troupe and Mandarti children’s troupe.

Hampi Kannada University retired Professor A V Navada will inaugurate the programme at MGM College here, on Monday February 13.
Udupi-based Govind Pai Research Centre director Dr Heranje Krishna Bhat will be the chief guest on the occasion.

Karnataka Natak Academy award recipient Dr H Shantaram will be felicitated on the same occasion.

Udupi-based ‘Expressions’ group will stage various Konkani programmes followed by ‘Bhavataranga’, devotional singing programme by the students of MGM College and Poornaprajna College.
Akashwani Habba will have seminars, poets’ session, drama, dance recital, musical concert, singing, folklore, seminar on farming, women–children–youth programmes, Yakshagana, programmes in Kannada, Tulu, and Konkani during the week-long cultural extravaganza.

Akashwani Mangalore has urged the people of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kasargod districts to participate in the programme in large numbers. Akashwani Mangalore state chief Dr Vasant Kumar Perla, programme executive Sadanand Holla, Krishna Bhat, and transmission executive Florine Roche were present at the press meet.
