Mangalore, Feb 10: Former prime minister and JD(S) president H D Deve Gowda will inaugurate a party workers' convention at Swaraj Maidan, Moodbidri on Sunday February 12.

Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, former minister of state K Amarnath Shetty, Basanagowda R Pateel Yathnal, P G R Sindhya, Cheluvaraswamy, M C Nanaiah, Y S V Datta, Jameer Ahmed Khan, Madhu Bangarappa, Mahendra Kumar Devi Prasad Shetty among others will be present.

Addressing a press conference recently, M B Sadashiva, district president of JD(S) said that a strategy has been chalked out for making this district-level party workers’ convention a grand success. In the first phase, leaders will visit 10 districts to understand the problems faced by the people during the BJP-led state government. Mysore, Kodagu, Karwar, Chikamagalur, among others districts will be toured by the leaders. People belonging to other parties will join JD(S), he informed. However, he said as of now the number of people joining the party cannot be divulged.

K Amarnath Shetty lashing out at BJP’s administration in state said basic issues like road among others are untouched by the government. "Corruption has engulfed the government departments in the state government offices. Programme promoted by the state government involve only BJP leaders in a bid to advertise themselves. This was not the trend earlier," he said, and informed that this convention aims at educating people about the importance of voting for JD(S).

Party workers, district office-bearers, gram panchayat, taluk panchayat, zilla panchayat and members of other associations will take part in the convention on Sunday February 12 at 10.30 am. The stage will be named after the late S Bangarappa.
