Goa govt tells HC Lokayukta appointment underway, but delay due to candidate search

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Sep 24: The Goa government has informed the High Court that efforts are ongoing to appoint a new Lokayukta, though the process is taking time due to challenges in identifying a suitable candidate.

The update came in response to a petition filed by politician Trajano D’Mello, who highlighted that the Lokayukta post has been vacant since December 2024.

The court, while taking note of the delay, sought a status report on the appointment process and adjourned the hearing to October 13.
