Mangaluru jewellery shop staff abducted, robbed of gold bar worth Rs 1.5 crore

Mangaluru, Sep 27: In a shocking incident, a staff member of a jewellery shop in Hampankatta was abducted and robbed of a gold bar worth Rs 1.5 crore on Friday, September 26.

The incident occurred when Mustafa, an office staffer of the jewellery store, was on his way to a jeweller’s workshop at Rathabeedi to get the gold bar refined into pure gold. He was reportedly transporting 1,650 grams of gold on a scooter when he was intercepted by a gang.

Around six unidentified men arrived in a car and on a scooter, abducted Mustafa, and drove him around different locations in the city. The gang later abandoned him near Ekkur and fled with the gold bar.

A case has been registered at the Mangaluru North police station, and investigations are underway to trace the culprits involved in the daring daylight robbery.

    Something is fishy here.One simply doesnt wait with car and other weapons for a particular scooter driver.Must have given a hint when and where. or which vehicle.One day the truth will comeout.Why go with a scooter without proper security or other time?

    Is it not the duty and responsibility of the Gold Jewellery shop owner to provide required security to the staffer who carrys Gold bar worth one and half crores. Its definitely lapse on the part the owner of the Gold shop . Police to investigate about this crime.
