Karnataka government grants 3-year age relaxation for job aspirants

Bengaluru, Sep 29: In a major relief for job aspirants, the state government on Monday announced a three-year age relaxation for direct recruitment to civil service posts, terming it a Dasara bumper gift.

The order, issued by the government, states that the relaxation will be applicable once, across all categories of candidates, for direct recruitment conducted through various state departments.

Recently, competitive exam candidates and student organisations had staged protests in Dharwad demanding a five-year age relaxation and recruitment orders for PSI and constable posts, putting pressure on the government. Earlier this month, on September 6, the state had announced a two-year relaxation for direct recruitment to civil posts. With the latest order, the relaxation has now been extended to three years.

The age relaxation will be applicable to all categories of candidates for direct recruitment notifications issued by the government up to December 31, 2027.

Revised age limits

  • General category: 35 years to 38 years

  • OBC: 38 years to 41 years

  • SC/ST/Category-1: 40 years to 43 years
