Panaji, Sep 30: A delayed flight from Goa to Surat on Sunday turned into an impromptu Navratri celebration, as passengers broke into Garba at the airport, spreading festive cheer despite the long wait.
Mayur, traveling to Goa for work, was eager to return to Surat in time for the nine-day Navratri festival dedicated to Goddess Durga. After his train was delayed, he booked a flight, only to face another five-hour delay. Rather than letting the setback dampen spirits, passengers, inspired by Mayur’s enthusiasm, transformed the airport lounge into a festive ground.
A flight attendant arranged speakers, and soon travelers and airline staff were clapping, twirling, and swaying in circles to traditional beats. In a video that has gone viral, a man at the center of the circle encourages more passengers to join, while staff members tap their feet and join in the dance. Other travelers watching from nearby seats also appear captivated by the joyous celebration.
The spontaneous Garba celebration at Goa airport has since become a heartwarming example of how festival spirit can overcome unexpected delays, spreading smiles and energy among strangers.
