Kasargod: School Manager’s Beating Lands Student in Hospital

Kasargod, Feb 11: A higher primary school student was beaten as punishment by a manager of the school in Manjeshwar, near here, on Thursday February 9.

Siraj, Class VII student of Durgipalla English Medium School, and son of Majibailu Fakruddin Hosongady, was injured by the beatings of school manager.  Siraj was admitted to Manjeshwar government hospital. He was beaten with a wooden stick.

Siraj’s English teacher instructed him to write a stanza of poetry on the blackboard.  Siraj had done a few mistakes and the teachers warned Siraj to improve his basic skills.  Siraj was told to bring his mother, and when they arrived at the school on Friday February 10, the teacher explained about the boy’s poor English. Siraj’s mother assured the teacher that she would take earnest interest in tutoring him and returned home.

After a while, the school manager called Siraj to his office and beat him injuring his fingers.  There were wounds on Siraj’s back also. Manjeshwar police registered a case and investigations are underway.
