New Delhi, Oct 3: The wait is over for Swifties worldwide as Taylor Swift officially released her much-anticipated 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Friday.

The pop icon announced the launch on Instagram Stories with a short clip that opened to an orange door — a symbolic nod to her entry into a brand-new musical era.

The album features 12 tracks: The Fate of Ophelia, Elizabeth Taylor, Opalite, Father Figure, Eldest Daughter, Ruin the Friendship, Actually Romantic, Wi$h Li$t, Wood, CANCELLED!, Honey, and the title track The Life of a Showgirl featuring Sabrina Carpenter.

This is Swift’s first full-length project since The Tortured Poets Department (2024). Produced in collaboration with Max Martin and Shellback in Sweden, it marks her first reunion with the hit-making duo since her 2017 album Reputation.

The album dropped on Spotify on Thursday evening, and the surge of fans eager to stream it reportedly caused technical glitches on the platform. According to DownDetector, over 1,000 users reported that Spotify briefly crashed while attempting to play the tracks.

Swift first teased The Life of a Showgirl in August during an appearance on New Heights, the podcast hosted by her fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce. She revealed insights about the project’s inspiration and shared behind-the-scenes stories from its creative process.

To celebrate the release, Swift announced Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, a special 89-minute theatrical feature set to run in theatres across the US and internationally from October 3 to 5. The screening will include the premiere of the music video for The Fate of Ophelia, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, a new lyric video, and Swift’s personal reflections on the album’s making.
