First train via Hassan to connect Coastal Karnataka to Delhi
This is a landmark service, being the first-ever train from Mangaluru to North India via Hassan, offering enhanced access to passengers travelling to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, and northern states. The move has been widely welcomed by railway users and local communities, especially as it coincides with the return rush after Dasara holidays.
The Dakshina Kannada District Railway Users’ Committee has congratulated the authorities for the new route and urged that such connectivity be made regular.
Demand rises for Navayuga Express revival
Travellers have also renewed calls for the revival of the Navayuga Express, which earlier linked Mangaluru with Jammu’s Vaishno Devi shrine via Delhi. Though it was discontinued several years ago, demand for its return remains strong.
The announcement of this new special train has reignited hopes among passengers that it could serve as a precursor to reviving the Navayuga Express, or at the very least, evolve into a regular long-distance service connecting coastal Karnataka to northern India.
