Beed, Oct 4: In a tragic incident in Talvada village, Ramnagar, Gevrai taluka, a four-month-old infant lost his life after being drowned in a water barrel by his father, who later ended his own life.
According to police sources, Amol Hausarav Sonawane (30) and his wife Payal Amol Sonawane had consumed poisonous substances four days earlier over a domestic dispute. Both survived after receiving medical treatment and returned home to celebrate Dussehra with their family.

However, around 4 am, Amol reportedly lifted the infant from his mother’s lap and drowned him in a water barrel. Following this, he committed suicide by hanging inside their home.
Amol had been previously married, but his first wife left him within a few months due to his behavior. He remarried Payal, a resident of Ashti, Beed, about one and a half years ago. Reports indicate that Amol’s suspicious and argumentative nature often led to quarrels with Payal, even after the birth of their son.
This tragic incident has left the family and villagers in shock. Police are investigating the matter and have recorded statements from relatives.
Amol worked as a driver, and was the only son of his parents, while Payal came from a poor family and had no father.
