Kanpur, Oct 6: A burglary at a primary school in Kanpur district has taken an unusual turn, leaving locals both puzzled and amused. The thieves not only stole items from the school but also showcased their artistic talent by drawing cartoons on the classroom walls.
The incident took place during the Dussehra holidays at a primary school in Maniyarpur area of Bhitargaon. The school was closed at the time of the theft.

According to a complaint filed by Principal Ranjan Mishra at Saadh Police Station, the burglars broke the lock and made away with two Bluetooth speakers, a Samsung charger, a submersible starter box, and even a plastic chair — along with the lock itself.
When police arrived at the spot, they were surprised to find chalk drawings and cartoons on the blackboard and walls. “The thieves had drawn a cartoon associated with the government’s ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign almost perfectly,” said Station In-Charge Avnish Kumar.
Locals remarked that the thieves seemed to possess notable artistic skills. Police suspect the culprit might have an interest in art and could possibly be a former student familiar with the school. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
In Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, a couple allegedly stole a gold necklace worth Rs 6 lakh from a jewellery store without the staff noticing. CCTV footage showed the woman discreetly slipping the necklace into her lap, covering it with her saree, and later tucking it under her arm while pretending to browse.
The couple left the store claiming they did not find anything they liked. The theft was discovered later during inventory checks. Police have obtained CCTV footage and launched a search for the accused.
