Karkala: Three held for threatening woman and stealing cattle in Shirlalu

Karkala, Oct 7: Three individuals who allegedly threatened a woman with deadly weapons and stole three cattle from her shed in Shirlalu village were arrested by Ajekar police.

The arrested are identified as Mohammad Younis alias Younis (31) from Borkatte, Mohammad Naseer alias Naseer (28) from Kallabettu, Moodbidri, and Mohammad Iqbal alias Ikku (29) from Handele, Moodbidri.

On September 28, the accused reportedly entered the cattle shed of Jayashree, a resident of Shirlalu, threatened her with weapons, and stole three cows worth around Rs 35,000. Based on her complaint, a case was registered at the Ajekar police station under the Indian Arms Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Police seized property worth Rs 5.87 lac from the accused, including two swords used in the crime, a Swift car, a Mahindra Bolero vehicle, and five mobile phones used during the theft.

The investigation was carried out under the guidance of Karkala sub-division assistant superintendent of police Dr Harsha Priyamvada. The investigation team was led by PSI Manjappa D R of Ajekar police station.

The operation involved PSI Mahesh T M, staff members Satish Belle, Pradeep Shetty, Moorthy K from Hebri station, Sujeeth Kumar from Hebri, Mahantesh from Karkala Rural station, and Vishwanath and Shashikumar from the office of the Karkala circle inspector.
