New Delhi, Oct 9: Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, released on October 2, continues to face a sluggish run at the box office. The film, which released alongside Kantara Chapter 1, earned Rs 2.25 crore on Wednesday, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 38.75 crore.
According to Sacnilk data, the film opened with Rs 9.25 crore over the opening weekend, with collections dropping to around Rs 7.5 crore in the following days. Since Monday, the numbers have continued to dip. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted that despite discounted ticket offers under the Blockbuster Tuesdays scheme, the film remains “low-key,” though the lack of major releases until Diwali might help its performance, especially in multiplexes of major centres where it continues to attract audiences.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari follows the familiar romantic comedy template of Varun Dhawan’s earlier hits like Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. The cast includes Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra.
In a review for NDTV, critic Saibal Chatterjee observed that the film’s title reveals much of the plot but praised the love story’s eventual warmth. He highlighted Janhvi Kapoor’s performance, saying she brings charm and sprightliness to her role, effectively holding together crucial segments of the film despite a skimmed-over backstory of her character’s broken family and estranged mother.
